About This Blog
I’ve noticed that many of my friends, peers, and colleagues shy away from learning foreign languages, such as Chinese, because they perceive it to be extremely difficult and boring. To change this perception I created this blog to detail my struggles and triumphs while learning Chinese. I hope that by writing about my experiences, posting helpful tips and things I’ve learned along the way, and detailing my travels abroad, I can encourage other people to take an interest in foreign languages and culture.

About The Author
My name is Randi (丁兰)and I am university student studying Accounting and Chinese. I have been studying Mandarin for 4 hours a week since middle school, and I am very passionate about the Chinese language and culture.
In high school, I had the opportunity to visit China for two weeks, where I spent time in the cities of Beijing, Shanghai, Suzhou, Guilin, and Xi'an. This trip is what sparked my interest in continuing my Chinese language studies in college. In the summer of 2014, I went to Taiwan for one month and studied at the NCKU Language Center. I had the chance to take classes with other Mandarin learners from around the world, travel to major cities, and eat tons of delicious food! I hope to travel to mainland China and Taiwan again in the future, as it is a great way to immerse yourself in the language and culture.
